Podfic Year In Review: 2012

What was the best podfic you made this year?
This is a Gift (it comes with a price). I absolutely love the way this one came out. The story, the cadence, the mood, everything.
Most popular?
By download count - Turn the Lights Down Low. By feedback - Walk, Don't Run.
Most under appreciated?
I've posted a number of podfics that haven't received any feedback at all, but the download counts are all pretty good, so hopefully listeners are appreciating them.
Personal favorite, for whatever reason?
Down to Zero - it's such a fantastic story - I love the progression and sheer believability of it.
Most difficult to make?
Breathless. I recorded it (three and a half hours) and lost it in a computer crash. I re-recorded it and edited it (probably about four hours of work at the minimum), then lost the entirety (over two and a half hours!) of the edited file and had to start over. I couldn't get the crickets out of the final edited file (it was lovely out when I recorded it and I had my window open) and decided after fighting with it, off and on, for several months that I was just going to post it. I then had the damnedest time posting it, as livejournal tends to suck ass. But it's done, and I love the way it came out.
Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?
Dream a Little (Wet) Dream of Me. Not only was it phone sex, it was descriptive M/M/F threesome (sort of) phone sex. It all had to come (ah ha ha) across in voice and it was a bit terrifying.
Most fun to make?
You Can Call Me Al. It was a joy to read and very entertaining to edit.
Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?
Sleep, Perchance to Dream. I couldn't get the tone of it exactly the way I wanted. And the quality of the file itself is not as good as I'd like.
Biggest learning experience?
After losing two plus hours of editing with Breathless, to save my editing files every five minutes. That taking the chance to make new friends is always worth the risk of rejection. I'm so happy that I've found a community of wonderful, supportive people in a place and time that was completely unexpected.
What's next? Do you have any podfic goals for next year?
I've got quite a queue of stories that I'm looking forward to working through. For goals, I'd love to do at least as many stories next year as this year, and I'd like to become better (and quicker!) at editing my podfic. I would also like to learn how to make cover art and podbooks, become more active in podficcing communities, give feedback more often and just generally participate more.
